But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40:31 ESV

He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 ESV

It is refreshing to know there is a God in heaven, a personal God, who is faithful to keep His promises to His people. He promises to go with us through the fiery trials of life, through the valley of the very shadow of death, and lead us in the righteous paths for His Name’s sake!

It has been said that life is filled with uncertainty. Facts! But one certainty every honest human must concede is our uncanny ability to fall short of God’s ideal for our lives. We slip and fall, strike that……. we sin, each and every day in word, though, or deed. In fact, Scripture offers us this heart-piercing question, “If you O Lord should mark iniquities, who could stand?” (Psalm 130:3). The simple confession: no one!

And yet, while Scripture gives us an honest appraisal of humanity in all our fall, sin-cursed frailties, the Word also reminds us of the steadfast faithfulness of our God! He is faithful! He will surely do it! Hallelujah! We fall. Yet, He is faithful to pick us up and restore us! We blow it time and time again. But God, who is rich in mercy, restores our souls!

Why does the Holy God of Heaven even bother with us? We are creatures of the fall, prone to wander and prone to stubborn attitudes! Oh, but God’s promises to His elect are sealed with the very blood of Jesus, who is foretold to be to us “the friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24). God’s promises are “yes and amen” in Christ! (2 Corinthians 1:20).

What shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us! His promises are true! He will hold His people fast through it all! And because He is faithful to us, we have a steadfast hope that endures! We believe in the promises of God! – JB
