Psalm 146 reminds us not to place our trust in human strength but in the Lord who reigns forever. Every promise of this psalm—justice, mercy, freedom, and hope—is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. In Him, our hearts find reason to say with confidence: ‘Praise the Lord, O my soul!’
Blessed Are the Merciful
If we, who have been shown so much mercy, fail to extend mercy to others, will not the Lord chasten and correct us? It is a grievous and wicked thing to withhold mercy when we have freely received it in such abundance.
Blessed Are They Who Hunger and Thirst
Those who hunger and thirst for the righteousness that cannot be produced by human effort will most surely be satisfied.
Christ Crucified: God’s Power and Love Revealed
The Cross is not weakness, but the very display of God’s power and love—foolishness to the world, yet the wisdom of God to all who believe.
The Power and Wisdom of the Cross
The message of John 3:16–17 and 1 Corinthians 1:18–24 is one and the same: the love of God and the wisdom of God are revealed supremely in the cross of Christ. The meek are not impatient or quarrelsome, nor are they always entangled in contentions, disputes, debates, or strife. Biblical meekness involves an attitude of humility, gentleness, and a steadfast reliance upon God—even in the midst of trials and tribulations.
Blessed Are They Who Mourn
We may be afflicted in every way. But we are not crushed. We may be perplexed, but not driven to despair. All day long we may be persecuted. But we are not forsaken. Still others may be struck down. But we are not destroyed. Mourning may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning. The only hope and eternal comfort in this world for those who rejoice or for those who mourn is Christ!
The Poor in Spirit
So many in religion think themselves "rich, increased with goods and in need of nothing!" Believing all is well between them and God, they suppose their acceptance is based on personal religious goodness. They assume everything to be fine, knowing not they are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked.
Faith: God’s Gift of Seeing Christ
Brothers and sisters, may your faith be fixed not on the seen but on the unseen glory of Christ. Let us remember: the same Word that created the world has now recreated our hearts in Christ. And by faith, we walk—not by sight.
