In this sermon based on 1 Corinthians 2:1–12, the apostle Paul emphasizes that God reveals His saving wisdom through Christ's crucifixion and the Holy Spirit's work in our hearts. The message highlights the importance of divine revelation over human intellect, encouraging believers to deepen their understanding of the gospel and rely on God's grace.
Faith That Flows From Wisdom: Taming the Tongue
Jesus said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34). What we say reveals what’s in our hearts. James reminds us that the tongue has both the power to destroy and the power to bless, and only the wisdom from above can bring our speech under godly control.
Blessed Are They Who Mourn
We may be afflicted in every way. But we are not crushed. We may be perplexed, but not driven to despair. All day long we may be persecuted. But we are not forsaken. Still others may be struck down. But we are not destroyed. Mourning may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning. The only hope and eternal comfort in this world for those who rejoice or for those who mourn is Christ!
The Spirit Helps Us
The Spirit of God provides profound comfort, empowerment, and encouragement to His people as we eagerly anticipate the return of Christ and the ultimate restoration of all creation.
Sealed with the Promised Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is essential for effective preaching. Without Him, our preaching is ineffectual, powerless, pointless.
THE SPIRIT PREACHES THE TRUTH ABOUT CHRIST
“The Spirit of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Might, Knowledge, and Fear of the Lord” will never empower a false Gospel to save Christ’s people. To do so would be to deny His very Name, Truth!
